All praise and honor and glory go to our Heavenly Father for prayers lifted by the Body of Christ in this land.
So many of our friends and family back home have been praying for the hearts of these children and for them to have Godly Christian influences in their lives. Unbeknownst to us, brothers and sisters in Christ here have been praying for us for a long time. They have been praying for a Christian family to adopt Ira and Rostik. Dear Saints here have been ministering to these two kids for quite sometime.
We were first greeted by two dear young ladies -Yulia and Irina (there are many named Irina here) on Saturday night when they came to our apartment to help with translation with the kids. They really wanted to find out if we were Christians. The bond of Christian love united us together then and we are so grateful for their help. They are like angels sent by God to carry us through. We invited them to join us in our journey to Poltava Christian Church and then we had a "Welcome to Ukraine" moment.
We then piled five in the back seat of our driver's car and made it to church in no time. Driving is an experience here. I think the main rule of driving is just get there quickly. Seatbelts???
The service was all in Russian but the pastor gave us an interpreter and we got the gist of it. We were struck again by the exhortation from Luke 18: To pray at all time and not lose heart. So many have been praying and encouraging our hearts day by day. Наш бог Всемогущии бог -our God is an awesome God! Bill gave a public testimony to the church on our adoption journey and the church prayed for us there.
Then on Sunday we took Rostik and Ira to Yulia and Irina's church -Salvation Christian Church.
Apparently word got out quickly who we were and several came up to us thanking us for adopting the children. Then another Irina came to me and through an interpreter I learned that she has known the children since they were very young. She has been praying for over a decade for a Christian family from America to adopt these kids. Our hearts and lives were knit together as we cried and embraced one another. After the service (preached in English with an interpreter) and public prayer for our family, we shared lunch at the church with this dear lady and we learned much about the children from her. All I can say here is this lady saved their lives. These two Irinas, Yulia and several others there are overjoyed that God has sent them a family. And we are overwhelmed with how all of this has been orchestrated. Our deepest appreciation to all of our new Christian friends and all the help they are giving to us now.
